What a fantastic jam it was again ! I’m always blown away by how strong the vibe is—just bring some toys to the park, throw in some incredible people on a sunny day, and bam, you’ve got the perfect recipe for an unforgettable day! Next year, how about we throw in some ecstatic dance too?

Next summer, We’d love to keep this energy going for an extra day (or two)! So, here’s another shoutout to every Dutch slackliner! If YOU know the perfect spot for a Dutch Slackline Festival (with camping options, and hopefully some midlines or waterlines), let us know OR, even better, start asking around!

Oh, and a little bird told me a certain someone is coming back to SlackNED with fresh energy.

On Saturday afternoon, the wind grew so intense that the entire festival had to be evacuated. Sixteen of our team found refuge in Rachel’s and Jonas’s van – setting a new record for both hospitality and human Tetris. The van transformed into the only psytrance stage at MadNes, doing justice to the hippie-image of slackliners on the festival. According to one team member, who wishes to remain anonymous, this was their “favorite moment of the whole weekend”. Plans are now underway for a spin-off called Psyslackers.

This year marks the end of an era, as Jonas steps down after twenty years of organizing slacklining on MadNes. We thank him for his hard work, good spirit, and those cherished morning coffees at the campground. For many others, this was their first MadNes, but certainly not their last. Next year, SlackNED will take over the organization. Personally, I’m already stoked for next year. In the meantime, I’ll be dealing with the beach sand that continues to appear everywhere in my house, even three weeks later.

The 2024 SlackNED X MadNes team

It has been a while since the annual general assembly (ALV) happened. The day started with a free slack jam at USC, combined with juggling, flowtoys and of course a lot of slacklining! After the slack jam, we went to the cafe together and the board members gave a presentation including a recap of 2023 and the plans & activities for 2024. There had been nice discussions on what the members find important for the association and set goals together so that the board keeps representing the members!

After working with Daan for many years on the board he has set the expectations for this role beyond what I thought was possible. This leads me to be extremely enthusiastic about stepping into the president role and the trust that comes with it. I’m looking forward to continuing the growth of our community and to making slacklining more accessible for everyone.
