Description

SlackNed’s first Highline Weekend of 2024

Where

Freyr!

When

The “long weekend” of 9-12 May, 2024
(but feel free to join any time during that period)

Accomodations

The plan is to use the free* bivouac there.
It has dry toilets and drinking tap water, ample pitching space, campfires and a river downhill.
Bring your own tent, mattress, sleeping bag, toiletries, cutlery and anything else you need to spend a few days out.
If you don’t have anything, let us know, we can probably help.
If you need to shower, run to the river!

Food/Drinks

Bring your own! There will likely be a couple of stoves for coffee, but no fully organized meals.
That said, there’s a snackbar just next to the bivouac, selling your usual super healthy fries, burgers, fried whatever and of course, beers.
The village nearby hosts a supermarket, some bakeries and restaurants, in case you have special needs, have forgotten something, or wanna do groceries on site.

Transport

We’ll need to see who’s coming.
Fill in the following spreadsheet to arrange carpooling: Carpooling

Personal Gear

Bring your own harness, PAS and rollex.
SlackNed has some spare but in limited amount. Let us know beforehand if you don’t have anything.

Highline gear

Do you have webbing you wanna rig? A drone? A tagline? Anchor material?
Anything available to help setup more lines is welcome.
Please fill in the spreadsheet: Gear.

Personal competences

As usual, you need to be able to climb the leash and mount the line to be allowed on it.
Although it’s not required, your experience will be a lot more enjoyable if you know how to start (sit start, chongo, knee drop, rocketmount…)
Do you have rescue or rigging experience? Please send me a PM.

Practicalities

You officially need to be a member of the NKBV and have the “klimjaarkaart” to access the cliffs.
You are ultimately responsible for being able to show your card if controlled by anyone on site, with the risk of being sent away, possibly fined, and drawing a bad rep on the association, the community, the country and yourself.
You don’t have the klimjaarkaart? Someone who has can invite 2 persons. The costs are 11€ per person, plus 8€ for travel and accident insurance. The insurance is not mandatory, but it is mandatory that the guest has their own liability insurance when entering the climbing area. Details here.

Costs

The (*) after “free” earlier wasn’t accidental. It’s possible, although not guaranteed, that someone will collect a fee for the bivouac.
To cover for this, as well as the general logistics, we will ask a participation of *10€* for members, *20€* for non slackned members.
